Formulation Chemist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Formulation Chemist to develop innovative skincare and cosmetic products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cosmetic chemistry, with a focus on product design and development. This is an in-person, full-time position in Azusa, California.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and optimize skincare, haircare, makeup, and other cosmetic products

• Research and develop new ingredients and technologies to create innovative formulations

• Conduct stability testing and evaluate product performance over time

• Adjust product textures, scents, and performance to meet consumer needs

• Ensure formulations meet regulatory and safety standards (e.g., FDA, EU)

• Collaborate with marketing, packaging, and production teams to bring products to market

• Provide thorough documentation and specifications for each formulation

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in formulation within the skincare or cosmetic industry

• Deep understanding of emulsions, surfactants, polymers, actives, and other key cosmetic ingredients

• Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety testing protocols

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with natural and organic formulations

• Proven track record of bringing products from concept to market

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position focuses on product formulation and development. Candidates specializing primarily in analytical testing or quality control may not be the best fit for this role.

Pay: DOE (depends on experience)
