Summer Camp Counselor Intern

Paid Summer Internship.  Full-time starting the end of May through the end of August. 

Camp Christopher is looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and hardworking summer interns to work with our camp for children with developmental disabilities. Interns will support staff by providing a safe, fun, and quality camping experience for assigned groups of campers with disabilities. The student will help implement activities of the daily camp program, understand the needs of campers, and exercise appropriate judgment to meet the needs of the campers.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with chaperoning and supervising campers during all camp activities (ex. crafts, cooking, crafts, hiking, archery, horse-riding, games, swimming/boating).
  • Interact with our campers throughout the day, helping them make friends, try new things, and generally caring for their well-being. 
  • Oversee and assist with the safety and personal care needs of campers.
  • Work with a team of counselors and program managers to implement outdoor recreation activities to develop physical, social, and emotional skills.
  • Gain hands-on leadership skills while positively influencing the youth.

Internship requirements:

  • Prefer students pursuing a degree in special education, physical/ occupational therapy, social work, or related field.
  • Prefer applicants with experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Must be at least eighteen years or older.
  • Intern will abide by the contractual agreement between Catholic Charities and the higher education program.
  • Ability to work outdoors with work that requires frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout the campsite.

Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday 8:30a-4:30p

Pay: $425 per week
