
Director of Pupil Services
Director of Pupil Services – Elementary (Probationary) 12 Month Position
QUALIFICATIONS: • Must possess NYS SDA or SDL Certification • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching or comparable experience • Prior administrative experience preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Evaluate and supervise all special education staff • Hold high quality professional development and workshops for staff • Chair various CSE meetings • Oversee CSE & CPSE • Oversee, implement, and successfully monitor all programs and services related to special education • Effectively communicate with administrators, staff, and the community • Accurately develop and monitor special education budget and oversee the 611/619 grant process • Ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations • Analyze data to inform decision making • Meet monthly with school psychologists and special education staff • Ensure that arrangements for transportation are made for all students with disabilities, both in and out of the district • Ensure that all evaluations, placement and program options are with a knowledge of each program and their respective locations, as well as compliant with federal and state guidelines • Monitor special education staffing to ensure full hiring and compliance with student IEPs • Be visible in buildings to provide ongoing support to administrators and staff • Be responsive to all staff and community inquiries • Visit out-of-district schools and students
