Job Summary

As the Business Intelligence (BI) Product Analyst at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), this position will provide leadership, technical expertise, analysis, consultation and oversight of data analytics and BI software (e.g. Tableau) used at the

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) under the direction of the Data Analysis Unit Supervisor. This position functions as a BI software expert to drive process improvement, build BI Software knowledge, and coordinate BI software use throughout the agency. This position informs and consults MPCA program areas in their use of BI software and informs management in leading process improvements, assess needs, engage users, identify opportunities and complete projects related to BI software. This position also serves as the business administrator for BI software server implementation at MPCA in collaboration with Minnesota Information Technology (MNIT). 

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of advanced professional experience (a bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, GIS, Information Technology, or related degree can substitute for one year of experience) that demonstrates the following:

Accomplished skills in Business Intelligence software capabilities and use (e.g. Tableau analytics platform).

Knowledge and familiarity with data systems, processes and tools, including planning and management of enterprise-level data platforms and solutions. 

Working knowledge and skills for Office tools and applications such as Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, outlook, PowerPoint and Visio. 

Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders to deliver multiple, interdependent initiatives that span many stakeholders

Experience leading and managing projects, facilitating meetings, and communicating information to groups.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding agency policies and being able to use them as part of creative problem solving on a variety of issues and staff concerns.

Ability to build consensus and create common direction among a variety of individuals. 

Ability to adapt to continuous organizational changes sufficient to work constructively under pressure and cope with ambiguity and setbacks. 

Advanced knowledge of the agency's or state's environmental data systems, online services, and strategic directions to support its programs within the system.

Experience administrating multiple server instances (e.g. testing and production), software licenses and license agreements, and/or user groups and permissions. 

Knowledge of digital accessibility and implementation of accessibility standards for BI tools (e.g. Tableau).

Experience in training/coaching peers in the use of BI Tools (e.g. Tableau).
