Job Purpose
The Management Trainee position is intended to provide a comprehensive view and understanding of Industrial Distribution operations and sales functions through an in-depth job rotation program.
Work Schedule
This position will most typically work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM
Duties and Responsibilities
- Train on and master all aspects of warehouse and sales functions in a rotational format to include:
- Warehouse functions including receiving, stocking, pulling orders, customer returns, vendor returns and light fabrication
- Shipping functions to include delivery driver and route creation/dispatch
- Sales functions including sales order entry, counter sales and inside sales
- Overview of Purchasing and Accounting
- Participate in various leadership development activities and programs to include assigned readings, discussions and trainings
- Attend product knowledge meetings as required by management
- Communicate positively with supervisors, sales staff, fellow workers and customers to coordinate deliveries/pick-up
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently, maintain required certification, perform vehicle safety checks and report discrepancies to manager/supervisor
- Assist in keeping facility clean, neat, safe and operating efficiently
- Follow all established policy and safety guidelines in a drug-free workplace
- Present a neat and professional image
- Maintain proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies as required
- Follow company and OSHA Safety policies and procedures
- All other duties, as assigned. Regular and appropriate attendance is an essential function of this and all positions at APS.

- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Recognizes and understands product numbers and alpha/numeric codes
- Operates forklifts in compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
- Understands basic inventory, warehousing and stocking procedures
- Able to work independently with some direction
- Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures
- Comfortable in fast-paced environment
- Able to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Team player who works productively with wide range of people
- Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task
- Problem-solving and analytical ability
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications to include Outlook, Word and Excel
Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED required
- Four year college degree preferred
Certifications and Licenses
- Fork Lift

Ability to climb stairs, descend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel Lift/carry/push/pull heavy material or equipment Stand/walk for duration of work hours
