Legal Assistant

Where we are located:

 

We are located in the Dudley Tower in beautiful downtown Wausau. Our modern and comfortable office space is located on the River Walk and overlooks the Granite Peak ski hill, the Wisconsin River, and the vibrant downtown. We currently occupy the 8th and 9th floors of the building which offer a spectacular view during all seasons of the year. There are also several restaurants within walking distance, not to mention convenient proximity to the events held on the 400 Block.

We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join the team in our Wausau office. We are looking for YOU because you desire the ability to make a difference and have a desire to learn. Experience is not required. In fact, our most successful support staff come to us from a variety of industries (ex. restaurants, car rental service, retail, daycare, and many more). What we expect:

 

The candidate must possess a desire to learn, first and foremost. The candidate must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, both independently and as part of a team. The position requires skilled knowledge of punctuation, grammar, and proofing of the English language. 

 

What you will do on any given day:

 

  • Open, read, and route incoming mail and other records.
  • Schedule daily and future activities, and make appropriate arrangements (i.e., conference room reservations, meetings, etc.).
  • Proof, verify, and edit various correspondence and documents.
  • Process and reply to internal and external communications.
  • Develop an excellent rapport with clients through telephone contact, by handling telephone calls professionally and giving pertinent information to callers, and accurately taking messages.
  • Attend client meetings when necessary.
  • Set up and maintain filing systems for office functions.
  • Manage professional schedules for appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Provide back up support to other legal assistants and attorneys across all four offices.

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Courteous personality with professional demeanor.
  • Ability to deal discretely with sensitive financial and business information and maintain strict confidentiality of such information.
  • Ability to handle all situations in a calm and effective manner.
  • Computer skills to navigate Windows products including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. 
  • Teamwork mindset.

 

Qualifications:

Microsoft Office: 1 year
