Compliance and Fraud Intern
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position exists to provide support to the compliance and fraud departments. This position is responsible for learning, understanding, and assisting with the compliance and fraud functions, including but not limited to risk operations, deceased account processing, fraud and disputes. This position will also learn banking regulations and how to apply those rules to the credit union, mostly in the area of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Communicate professionally and effectively with all staff and levels of management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in reviewing and processing Levis, Garnishments and Returned Deposit Items (Risk Operations).
2. Assist with reviewing and processing deceased account requests.
3. Assist employees and members in determining fraud activities.
4. Assist in the monitoring of member activity, including fraud and activities related to BSA.
5. Assist in the processing of dispute requests.
6. Actively and thoughtfully communicate with their supervisor, planning their goals and development, taking accountability for their actions, and striving for excellence.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in a similar or related field.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. However, we do accept OPT/CPT.
• One to three years similar or related experience.
• Knowledge of credit union operations would be preferred but not required.
• Analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge/Ability to use various computer programs, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Professional, pleasant, and outgoing personality.
• Problem solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Decision making skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
The following physical activities will be required on a day-to-day basis: climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, pulling, fingering, feeling, hearing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, standing, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, repetitive motions.

VISUAL/PERCEPTION ACTIVITY:
Administrative, Clerical, Data Entry operators, Inspection, (work at distances close to the eyes).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
HUMAN RELATION SKILLS NEEDED:
The ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, and contacts outside of the credit union in a polite, courteous timely, accurate and efficient manner. Patience in dealing with a difficult member.
