Anatomical Research Specialist

Sparks Brain Preservation is a non-profit research organization dedicated to advancing the field of brain preservation through cutting-edge research. Website: https://www.oregonbp.com/

 

This position offers opportunities to contribute to research, with potential co-authorship on peer-reviewed scientific publications, while developing a diverse set of laboratory skills. This position involves work with human anatomical donors. 

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering, or related field (or expected to graduate soon)
  • Motivation to contribute to scientific research
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly
  • Willingness to work occasional weekend or evening hours when needed (compensated at a higher rate)
  • Able to travel occasionally for off-site work (possibly up to a couple of times a year, which would be compensated at a higher rate)
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Valid Driver's License

 

Helpful, but not required: 

 

  • Neuroscience experience
  • Microscopy experience
  • Anatomical experience

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform anatomical research procedures and laboratory work
  • Perform cleaning responsibilities, including disinfecting workspaces
  • Perform careful transport and respectful handling of anatomical donors
  • Perform administrative duties, including phone calls to donors and their families
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols
  • Contribute to scientific paper writing
  • Independently manage time
  • Maintain confidentiality

 

Benefits include very good medical and dental insurance, 401k with match, paid holidays and paid time off (vacation or sick time). Wage for this position starts at $22.50-24.50/hr depending on experience, 40 hours/week. 

 

Drug test and background check will be required. Applicant must live in or near Salem.
