### **About the Opportunity**
This is more than an internship—this is an opportunity to be part of a movement that is reshaping food systems through sustainability, urban agriculture, and regenerative economy solutions.
This initiative is **Black- and Latino-led**, breaking barriers in food science, technology, and community-based solutions. The leadership team includes:
- **William Padilla-Brown (Harrisburg & Pittsburgh)** – Mycologist, researcher, and educator, featured in *MUD/WTR* for his pioneering work in fungi-based regenerative agriculture.
- **Patrice (Pittsburgh)** – Urban farmer, food justice advocate, and co-founder of *Mystic Mamas*, an African American Women led regenerative food collective.
- **Josh (Philadelphia & Pittsburgh)** – Entrepreneur, strategist, and innovator in food systems and community-based sustainability.
The focus of this initiative is to **upcycle brewery waste into high-value mushroom production and urban food security solutions**—creating a closed-loop system that benefits both the environment and local economies.

### **Internship Roles**
#### **Research & Mycology Interns (Pittsburgh, Philadelphia & Harrisburg)**
- Assist in mushroom cultivation and lab-based research.
- Participate in studies on spent grain as a substrate for mycelial growth.
- Contribute to microbial and nutrient analysis of different substrate combinations.
- Support data collection and experimental design.
#### **Urban Farming & Community Agriculture Interns (Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia)**
- Work with community growers to develop sustainable urban farming projects.
- Assist with hands-on mushroom and plant cultivation in community-based spaces.
- Support educational initiatives focused on food sovereignty.
#### **Fundraising & Grant Writing Interns (Remote or PA-Based)**
- Research and apply for grants related to food justice, agriculture, and sustainability.
- Assist with corporate and community fundraising initiatives.
- Support budgeting and financial tracking for funding opportunities.
#### **Event Planning & Community Outreach Interns (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, & Harrisburg)**
- Assist with planning and execution of public events, including mushroom-based pop-up food experiences.
- Coordinate with local community organizations, businesses, and growers.
- Manage outreach efforts to engage stakeholders and increase participation.
#### **Web Development & Digital Strategy Interns (Remote or PA-Based)**
- Assist in the development and management of the initiative’s website and digital tools.
- Work on a web-based platform for food tracking, grower coordination, and impact reporting.
- Support data visualization and digital infrastructure development.
#### **Social Media & Content Creation Interns (Remote or PA-Based)**
- Develop engaging content for social media, blogs, and digital platforms.
- Create educational materials on fungi, sustainability, and food justice.
- Document and showcase the work being done in the community through multimedia storytelling.
