Instructional Coach

Position: Instructional Coach (Secondary Level) 

School Year: 2025-2026

Location: Juab High School 

Contract Length: 213 days (30 additional days beyond the certified contract) 

Salary: Based on the certified salary schedule

Overview: Juab School District is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Instructional Coach at Juab High School for the 2025-2026 school year. Instructional Coaching is a vital component in ensuring that every student has access to a highly skilled teacher who effectively meets their unique needs. Instructional Coaches provide job-embedded learning that benefits all teachers within the school while supporting the implementation of school and district goals in the classroom.

The Instructional Coach will work under the supervision of the building principal with district support and mentorship. Annual evaluations will be conducted via ObserverTab, incorporating self-assessments, district mentor observations, and building administrator observations. Daily responsibilities are assigned by the building principal and align with the Competencies of a Quality Instructional Coach (USBE) and Juab School District’s mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) coaching model, which includes Pre-partnership, Collaborative Planning, Implementation, Reflection, and Follow-up.
  • Provide professional support to teachers in setting and achieving goals that align with the school and district vision and expectations.
  • Enhance student outcomes by building teacher capacity to use best instructional practices.
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships through clear, non-threatening, and objective communication.
  • Engage in active listening and effective communication by asking probing and reflective questions.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing and utilizing data to guide instructional decision-making and improve classroom practices.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of secondary student development and secondary instructional pedagogy.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Master’s Degree in an Education-related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Utah Core Standards and Utah Effective Teaching Standards.
  • Proven leadership experience working with various stakeholders.
  • Background in mentorship and adult learning theory; experience leading professional learning.
  • Familiarity with Canvas course design and assessment. Ability to support effective technology integration.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Willingness to participate in job-specific training during the summer of 2025.
