Position Overview:
The Grant Management, Instructional Programs & Secondary Education Director provides dynamic leadership, strategic oversight, and mentorship across multiple domains within secondary education. This role supports secondary school principals, manages educational grants, oversees instructional programs, and ensures robust community and student engagement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader committed to fostering educational excellence, equity, and innovation. This position reports directly to the Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Serve as a mentor for secondary school principals, providing guidance on leadership best practices, school improvement strategies, and effective decision-making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among educational leaders and staff.
Grant Management:
- Provide oversight for the Utah Grants Systems, ensuring compliance and effective utilization of USBE and state funds.
- Fed
- Monitor grant-funded programs and initiatives to ensure alignment with educational goals and district priorities.
Instructional Programs & Support:
- Lead the integration of technology into secondary instruction, promoting digital literacy and innovative teaching practices.
- Oversee the management of secondary library media resources, ensuring equitable access to materials that support curricular and literacy goals.
- Supervise the selection, distribution, and inventory of secondary tools and curriculum.
- Support the development and implementation of Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), leveraging data to drive student achievement.
Student Support & Professional Learning:
- Coordinate professional learning opportunities tailored for secondary educators, emphasizing instructional strategies, curriculum development, and technology integration.
- Provide leadership to secondary counselors, focusing on academic advising, college and career readiness, and social-emotional support.
- Enhance professional learning and support services for educators working with English Learners, promoting inclusive practices and language acquisition strategies.
Community & Student Engagement:
- Oversee translation and interpretation services to ensure language accessibility for students and families.
- Strengthen school-family partnerships through community engagement initiatives and parent support programs.
- Address attendance issues and student discipline as the district’s Truancy/Hearing Officer, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
Student Safety & Well-Being:
- Promote a safe and drug-free learning environment through preventive programs and initiatives.
- Support the Juab Adult Transition program, assisting adult learners in their transition to higher education or the workforce.
- Support, promote, and implement the JuabSD and State of Utah Portrait of a Graduate programs, initiatives, and ongoing development.
Secondary & Student Support Services:
- Provide oversight for accelerated programs, including Advanced Placement, Concurrent Enrolment and honors courses, to support advanced learning.
- Develop, expand and enhance work-based learning opportunities by developing educational and career partnerships, including internships and apprenticeships, while also strengthening Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to connect students with real-world experiences.
- Coordinate concurrent enrollment programs, enabling high school students to earn college credits.
Professional Development:
- Lead the district’s secondary professional development efforts, fostering a culture of instructional excellence and reflective practice among teachers and staff.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Valid administrative license.
- Minimum of five years of experience in educational leadership, with a focus on secondary education.
- Demonstrated experience managing educational grants, high stakes reporting and budgets.
- Strong background in instructional technology, curriculum development, instructional leadership and professional learning.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
