What We're Looking For: DATCP’s Division of Trade and Consumer Protection is recruiting for an Agriculture Auditor – Dairy Trade (Entry or 3) to fill an employment opportunity with the Bureau of Business Trade

 

This position is located at the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison’s southeast side and nestled atop a beautifully wooded and scenic hilltop venue. Our employees enjoy ample, low-cost parking at the facility. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

 

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per 2-week pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee’s telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to work in Wisconsin.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is dedicated to the performance of compliance audits and investigations of state trade practice laws with primary emphasis on dairy product wholesalers’ compliance with the Dairy Trade Practices Law [Wis. Stat. § 100.201]. This position may also be responsible for the performance of field audits and investigations of gas stations, retail stores, tobacco wholesalers, soda water bottlers, oil companies, breweries, and pharmaceutical companies for the purpose of enforcing the Unfair Sales Act and laws related to fraudulent representations, price discrimination, and price gouging.

SALARY INFORMATION

The Agriculture Auditor entry level is in schedule-range 07-04 with starting pay between $29.00 - $31.00 per hour based on qualifications. The Agriculture Auditor 3 is in schedule-range 07-03 with starting pay between $31.00 - $34.00 per hour based on qualifications. 

 

This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire. A twelve-month probationary period is required. 

 

An add-on amount of $0.50 per hour may be paid based upon the employee's successful completion of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination and possession of the CPA "Notification of Grades." Upon earning the CPA certification, an additional add-on amount of $0.50 per hour may be granted to the employee to bring the employee’s total add-on amount up to $1.00 per hour.

 

JOB DETAILS

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

 

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

 

A valid driver’s license and the eligibility to drive a State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle* is required.

*In order to be authorized to drive a State vehicle the candidate must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license;
  • Must have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience;
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:

  • Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
  • Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
  • Suspension or revocation of driver’s license.

 

Regular in-state travel of approximately 20-40% of the time with occasional overnight stays, is required. Travel may also be required under less than ideal conditions.

 

This position will work in typical office situations; however, some of the work may be performed at the business locations in less than ideal circumstances. 

 

Professional training in accounting or auditing such as that which would be acquired by earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited post-secondary college/university; or commensurate work experience and training.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimally qualified candidates must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or auditing from an accredited post-secondary college/university or commensurate work experience and training (preparing reports for accounts payable or accounts receivable, performing bank reconciliations, preparing, or analyzing components of financial statements, and/or conducting audits of accounting records, etc.).

 

  • Experience working with mathematic fundamentals including the ability to accurately apply formulas.

 

  • Experience using computer systems such as MS Office or a similar software, including spreadsheets and databases.

 

In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working within the dairy industry (commodities market analysis, future pricing, hedging, etc.).

 

  • Experience interpreting and applying rules and/or regulations (state/federal statutes, policies, laws, etc.).

 

  • Experience conducting financial or compliance audits, preparing financial statements or performing financial statement analysis.
