Evening News Anchor

EVENING NEWS ANCHOR

The News Anchor serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers. We are looking for a News Anchor who is committed to the communities they serve and enjoys creating strong relationships with viewers and community leaders.

Duties And Responsibilities:

* Presents news stories and other content for all platforms.
* Work independently, as well as with news management and production team, in the news gathering process.
* Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
* Produces newscasts and communicates clear direction with team members.
* Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news programming and other content.
* Acts as a field reporter as assigned.
* Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
* Edits video clips, as assigned.
* Records voice-overs as assigned.
* Writes content for the website and other electronic media platforms.
* Responsible for representing News40 in a professional manner, inside and outside the studio.
* Engage with the community in public appearances.
* Strategically engage in social media, as an ambassador of the News40 brand.
* Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
* Participate in an established on-call rotation
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

* Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field.
* Fluency in English.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad-lib when required.
* Minimum of two years’ experience in television news reporting or anchoring.
* Superior on-air presence.
* Excellent news judgement with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
* Experience guiding, directing and motivating others.
* Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
* Listen effectively to fully understand problems and communicate with the team to shape a solution.
* Prioritizes deadlines and assignments and handles multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
* Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Flexibility to work any shift, including holidays and weekends
* Proficient with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment.
