Vice President of Fund Operations

About You:

You are an accounting wizard who can translate what you know into the best form for a given business purpose—whether fueling data-driven portfolio management decisions, improving client communication, or addressing regulatory, compliance, or tax questions. You thrive in a collaborative setting, and are mission-driven, service-oriented, and excited to contribute to a high-impact team.

We are limiting this opportunity to individuals with significant experience in fund accounting, specifically with funds investing in both venture capital and public equities. Responsibilities:

We are looking for a communicative and collaborative Vice President of Fund Operations who can work closely with our investment and analytics teams, and our external service providers, to produce timely and accurate information on our investments—to enable both data-drive decision making internally, as well as periodic client reports and tax and regulatory filings. The bullets points below broadly illustrates the scope of your duties in order of importance. The more functions with which you are familiar, the better; but even if you’re an expert in just one key area, don’t hesitate to apply. Your expertise in fund accounting and ability to orchestrate accurate and timely information on the fund will be what truly matters at SymBiosis.

• Accounting & Cash Management: Expert accountant with specific experience in investment fund and management company accounting. Trustworthy, accurate, and timely in paying invoices, entering wire transfers, and managing the financial books and records of the firm (an active CPA license is not required, but is a plus).
• Reporting & Automation: Excellent listener and communicator who can translate business objectives into clear, concise, and timely reports. Effective project manager who can deploy both internal and contract resources to automate reporting and other accounting tasks (being able to use at least one programming language, such as Python or VBA, to automate accounting tasks is not required, but is a plus).
• Audit & Tax: Collaborate with the investment team on valuations, track and report on capital gains and losses, and collaborate with our external auditor and tax advisor on year-end processes and filings.
• Regulatory & Compliance: Familiar with compliance requirements of Registered Investment Advisors. Collaborate with our external compliance consultant across all aspects of our compliance program, including SEC audits.
• HR: Collaborate with our external professional employer organization on onboarding, payroll, and benefits, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
