IT & Security Auditing Intern

Purpose of Position:

The primary function of the IT & Security Auditing Intern is to gain experience in IT/Security auditing in the electrical utility industry while also providing support to the team in process oversight and efficiency gains. This position will have two main focuses: to provide support to the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Auditing team and to independently study how to utilize Microsoft Copilot to help increase efficiency for the team. This intern will have the opportunity to work and learn alongside the auditing teams in ReliabilityFirst (RF) as well as other teams who support the auditing process such as IT and Risk and Analytic departments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn Microsoft’s AI Copilot and its capabilities to identify potential implementation to auditing processes with the goal of increasing department/procedural efficiencies
  • Shadow CIP team members, learn/assist in their responsibilities; document, review evidence, and discover areas for improvement in auditing processes
  • Collaborate frequently with the CIP team on tasks and use newfound knowledge of the industry to develop tools for the team to enhance efficiencies in their daily work
  • Identify emerging technologies in the CIP and security area to anticipate new trends through research and team discussions

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Security, Computer or Systems Engineering, Business Analytics, or related technical field resulting in demonstrated ability to perform the major duties required
  • Ability to work independently and be a motivated self-learner
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 360 products

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with IT, IT networking, cloud, security, AI, database, database coding, and other related tasks to this position
  • Certifications or progress towards certificates/licensures such as CISSP, CISA, GIAC, etc. from established Information Security providers e.g. ISC², ISACA, SANS
  • Ability to think in creative ways to help identify more efficient processes
