Acoustic Signal Processing Engineer

Signal Systems Corporation (SSC) is searching for highly motivated engineers to support the development of next generation sonar systems and sonar signal processing algorithms for a range of Naval applications. You will work alongside scientists and experts in the field to implement new technologies and deliver highly impactful solutions to both government and commercial customers. SSC has a 25-year history of leveraging its institutional and individual expertise in distributed acoustic sensors, active noise control, acoustic surveillance, machine learning, audio enhancement and interference rejection to provide engineering solutions for both government and commercial customers in underwater, sonic and ultrasonic domains.

As an Acoustic Signal Processing Engineer, you will…

  • Research, design, develop, test, document, and maintain algorithms and software related to active and passive acoustics
  • Conduct analysis, modeling, and simulation of acoustic signals
  • Develop and train machine learning networks to detect and classify acoustic signals on simulated and real data
  • Collaborate with engineers from other organizations to support testing and integration of both SSC products and the products of other organizations.
  • Be responsible for the success of technical projects and tasks from conception through the engineering process including design, testing, reporting and alignment with customer objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or other related technical field
  • Algorithm development and testing experience and data analysis in MATLAB
  • Experience with underwater acoustics, signal processing, and sonar system development
  • Passion for innovation, problem solving, and achieving technical results
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and hold a US Government security clearance. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or Ph.D in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Python programming experience for machine learning
  • Have an expert understanding of Bayesian statistics and tracking
  • An active Secret or higher-level security clearance
