Role Overview:
Iowa PBS is seeking an exceptional summer 2025 intern within our communications division. As the engagement intern, you’ll gain experience in all aspects of event and engagement management, including engaging viewers in network events, collaborating with external partners, creating internal and external communications and promoting station efforts.
The goal of this internship is to empower you to:
1. Event Execution: Assist in planning and executing events across the state of Iowa, both online and offline, to promote interaction and strengthen relationships.
2. Campaign Creation: Grow your knowledge in creating promotional assets that fit within a multi-media campaign including on-air, print and online.
3. Community Building: Gain insights into audience preferences and engagement strategies, helping to foster connections with Iowans at a deeper level.
4. Team Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse team of professionals, refining your collaboration, communication and project management skills
5. Communication Skills: Develop effective communication skills for conveying brand messages and maintaining a consistent tone across various channels.
In addition, you can expect to assist with Iowa PBS station tours, learn budget management, data collection and evaluation, and contribute to the development of innovative ideas and creative elements that make Iowa PBS’s engagement strategy memorable and unique. By the end of this internship, you'll emerge with a well-rounded skill set, ready to excel in the world of community engagement and audience development, making a meaningful impact in your future career.
Occasional statewide travel is required. This position offers opportunities for a hybrid work schedule. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
