Construction Accountant

Job description

The Construction Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing, and monitoring cost and billings associated with all the civil construction projects in the Delhur Southwest Division. The Construction Accountant will also assist in bookkeeping and payroll functions for all company divisions.

Job Tasks:

· Coordinate all aspects of the job costing process for all projects within the divisions. Produce and analyze job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports. Ensure the financial integrity of project reporting through analysis of weekly and monthly job costs reports. Perform financial analysis of project costs versus budget.

· Help perform monthly closes including but not limited to CPLTD, inventory, and work in progress

·Review weekly payroll coding to ensure proper general ledger and job cost coding for accounting purposes

·Oversee documentation of company capital expenditures and financing

· Support the project manager on contract compliance and reporting. Evaluate and provide accurate project financial information and recommendations in a timely manner to the project manager. Assist in the preparation of status reports and maintain accurate project status and budget information.

· Assure internal control processes and compliance. Manage vendor and subcontractor compliance with insurance, lien waivers, change orders, retention, and W-9s to mitigate project risk.

· Assure billings are compliant with the contractual definition of cost. Play an active role in supporting external project cost audits.

· Research and resolve difficult accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· 2-5 years of accounting experience preferred but not required; 2 – 5 years of construction project experience is a plus

· Experience creating reports and compiling and analyzing data; strong analytical experience.

· Strong organization skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

· Able to maintain strong client relations and provide good customer service.

· Proven ability to effectively prioritize work, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

· Ability to analyze and resolve straightforward issues.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

· Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize advanced accounting systems, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc. required.

· Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment.

· Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Salary: $55,000.00- $65,000.00
