UCPM, a leading environmental insurance company, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations, drive business planning, and ensure financial integrity. This is a full-time, in-office position based at our headquarters in Gilbert, AZ, requiring on-site presence to facilitate collaboration and effective financial oversight.
Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and leading a team of accountants. This role oversees accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, audits, and internal controls while working closely with the CFO on strategic financial initiatives. The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in providing accurate financial reporting and forecasts while maintaining operational efficiencies to support UCPM’s growth. The growth potential for this position is to become the organization’s controller.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Direct accounting, reporting, and financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, forecasting, and management reporting to support company growth.
- Identify operational efficiencies and process improvements to enhance financial performance.
- Maintain internal controls and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
- P&L responsibilities include fixed and variable costs monitoring and advising to ensure company growth.
Accounting & Compliance
- Lead month-end and year-end closings, ensuring financial accuracy.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and forecasts for senior leadership.
- Oversee account reconciliations and cash flow management.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific financial laws.
- Implement risk management practices to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee and assist with audits and tax compliance.
Operational & Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, ensuring they meet deadlines and adhere to company policies.
- Collaborate with HR on payroll oversight and financial policies.
- Work closely with leadership to support financial decision-making and long-term strategy.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
Business Performance & Decision Support
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting, identifying key insights to drive profitability.
- Make data-driven recommendations to improve efficiency and financial results.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred, not required).
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage financial teams and projects, exhibiting strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to manage a team and collaborate with other departments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or a similar industry.
- Background in financial strategy, business planning, and operational improvement.
- Proficient in Netsuite and Salesforce.
