The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting students with diverse learning needs, inclusionary practices, and implementing individualized programming to support the
social/emotional growth of students, as well as a passion for assisting students to achieve their fullest potential with strength in collaborating with classroom teachers, support staff, related service providers, and families to provide individualized instruction and support in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Valid PA Teaching Certificate as required by assignment
- Must pass all background checks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to recognize, respect, and maintain confidentiality of issues, and information
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, classroom teachers, and other support staff. Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with behavior challenges, learning disabilities, and social-emotional difficulties
- Use evidence based strategies for behavior management and social skills training, such as positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and social stories
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide inclusion support for students with special needs, including co-teaching, accommodations, and modifications
- Monitor and document student progress using data-driven approaches, and adjust instructions as needed to ensure student success
- Communicate regularly with parents and other team members to share progress, discuss concerns, and make recommendations for further support
- Preferred experience working with students with autism
- Preferred experience working with students who exhibit behavioral needs, including writing and implementing behavior plans
