JOB TITLE: Multimedia Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The CTSFW Multimedia Specialist works collaboratively with team members and other departments to advance the Seminary’s mission through creative video content, high-quality live streaming, photography, and digital design that informs and engages Seminary friends and supporters, prospective students, congregations, partner organizations, and the public. The position is full-time and on-site.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position is a tech-savvy, creative storyteller who is completely at home with video and photography gear, livestreaming platforms, and editing and design software. He/she has a track record of successful projects, thanks to strong creative vision, good time management, high standards, and an ability to work well with others. He/she is a dependable team player willing to go the extra mile for the team and the people he/she serves. He/she has a strong understanding of the theology and practice of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) and would welcome the opportunity to use his/her talents to serve the church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create compelling videos for social media, email campaigns, the website, and special events and initiatives. Consult with “clients,” produce storyboards and scripts, arrange shoots, capture footage, edit, and distribute videos, ensuring that the final product is engaging, professional, and consistent with the Seminary’s voice and brand.
- Manage CTSFW’s YouTube channel, creating engaging content (text, images, and video) that builds support for the Seminary and its mission; monitor interaction and comments; monitor metrics.
- Oversee event livestreaming, including the daily chapel broadcast and special events, ensuring high production value; respond to and resolve technical issues promptly; train and work with livestream assistants (primarily student workers).
- Take photographs as assigned (e.g., group photos; photos for the website).
- Create digital graphics and animations as needed.
- Serve as the Communications point person for video- and audio-related requests (e.g., requests for studio time) from Seminary departments, in collaboration with the Information Technology staff.
- Create B-roll video assets; archive and update as needed.
- Maintain video, audio, and lighting equipment; research and recommend purchase or rental options as needed.
- Assist with creating and maintaining a standardized usage and permissions process for video assets.
- Contribute to team responsibilities including weekly staff meetings, providing feedback on projects, digital asset management, and annual reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in mass media, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline
- One to three years of experience with livestreaming or videography
- Proficient with video, audio, lighting and video editing tools and technology (e.g., Adobe
Creative Cloud; DaVinci); comfortable with Google Workspace and Canva (or able to learn quickly)
- Experience managing a video-oriented social media channel for an organization or business a plus

- Demonstrated understanding of the theology and practice of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod; supportive of the Seminary’s mission to form servants in Jesus Christ who teach the faithful, reach the lost, and care for all
- Able to deal professionally with all contacts inside and outside the Seminary community
- Able to work occasional evenings and weekends for event livestreaming (roughly fifteen events per year)

- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, carry, push or pull
