Recruitment and Selection Specialist
This position is responsible for independently performing a variety of professional duties involving all aspects of Recruitment and Selection for the Florida Department of Corrections.Â
- Provides guidance to managers and employees regarding the Hiring Center in the People First System.
- Conducts research on vacant positions and advertises vacancies in the People First System in accordance with Department policies.
- Reviews and analyzes documents submitted with recruitment packages to ensure that proper procedures are followed, and necessary documentation is received to comply with Federal and State hiring guidelines.
- Prepares correspondence to Central Office and field office personnel regarding additional documentation needed to complete recruitment packages and process hiring requests in People First.
- Reviews applications submitted to determine eligibility by reviewing knowledge, skills and abilities of candidates.
- Ensures that procedures are followed for Veterans’ Preference and that all candidates are given appropriate consideration.
- Conducts background investigations on potential employees and reviews results with hiring manager, obtains additional information and/or documentation if needed.
- Utilizes various computer programs used by the Department, including but not limited to People First, Internet, FCIC/NCIC, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and various word processing, data base, and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong organizational skills, effective communication skills, and adept time management abilities.
- A willingness to go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Attention to detail, with the capacity to multitask and make sound judgments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
