Event Planning Intern
AFCPE® is looking for an event planning intern to help support our community events and national symposium. Candidates should be interested in the event management field, knowledgeable and savvy with the hospitality industry, and ideally have a background or interest in personal finance. The intern will support our Special Events Manager in event planning management and logistics.
This position is part-time (up to 20 hours per week) and offers valuable career experience with a nonprofit organization and a number of networking and educational opportunities within the field. Hours are flexible and responsibilities can be done remotely, during internship term, with the exception of attending the in person Symposium, if applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, logistics, and execution of AFCPE events
- Onsite event assistance as needed
- Assist with virtual event website development, event data entry, communications, and other administrative tasks
- Assist with department and other projects as assigned
- Attend the Symposium in Phoenix-Glendale, AZ, November 16 – 21, 2025, if in person support is needed, (All travel costs paid by AFCPE) or attend virtually and assist with virtual management of the Symposium
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong professional communication skills
- Solid writing skills
- Engaging, enthusiastic personality
- Experience with event software (i.e. X-CD, Asana, and Canva) preferred
- Attention to detail and ability to organize tasks
- Self-motivation and team attitude
- Comfortable speaking on the phone
- Creative vision
This position reports directly to the Special Events Senior Manager and does not have access to exam content nor exposure to the Exam Development Committee.
Internship stipend and/or college credit may be available.
