Press/Digital Assistant Opening - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) seeks a creative, driven, and graphically minded Press/Digital Assistant , who will play a key role in shaping the Member’s social media presence and digital outreach. This is a full-time position that often requires availability on nights and weekends to support an active press operation and execute the Member’s aggressive, strategic mass communications plan. The Press/Digital Assistant will be based in the Member’s Washington, D.C. office and report to the Communications Director.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create all digital content, including copy, graphics, and video
  • Manage and create content for the Member’s social media platforms
  • Work with Communications Director to develop graphics and content for franked communications
  • Clip TV appearances, committee hearings, and other video content for social media
  • Assist with drafting and sending out the Member’s newsletter, press releases, statements, talking points, floor speeches
  • Work with the Communications Director to maintain press lists
  • Work with the District Office to publicize constituent services and events
  • Manage live-streaming and photography at press conferences and DC-based events
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends as needed
  • Assist with updating the website

 

The position requires attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment. The ideal candidate is self-starter with technical skills and an interest in video recording and editing, photography, and branding. South Texas ties and Spanish fluency are a plus, but not required.
