Middle School Dean of Students (Seattle, WA)
Full Time (1.0 FTE) Salary/Exempt
Academic Year Schedule (August 1, 2025- June 30, 2026)

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Middle School team as a Middle School Dean of Students. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day, community life experience of students in a way that centers each student’s well-being and connection to the community. The Middle School Dean of Students reports directly to the Middle School Director and works closely with the three Grade Level Coordinators and Middle School Faculty and Staff Members.
While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
- Oversee the day-to-day, community life experience of students in a way that centers each student’s well-being and connection to the community
- Weave diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of student life, striving to create the sense of belonging needed in a thriving community
- Manage disciplinary matters along with the Grade Level Coordinators in a way that promotes accountability, consistency, and student growth and learning, which includes facilitating Discipline Committee meetings as needed
- Coordinate programming for weekly town halls
- Lead the Grade Level Coordinators, planning agendas for weekly meetings and supporting their work with their respective grade level teams
- Collaborate with the Experiential Education Manager to help plan grade level retreats
- Oversee and organize student clubs
- Lead, organize, and plan grade specific advisory programs, ensuring clear communication of its goals, expectations for our weekly advisory program
- Together with the faculty committee chair, oversee and collaborate with the faculty and student Social Committees to organize student social events
- Meet weekly with the Middle School Director and the Student Support Team
- Other duties as assigned and needed for successful implementation of the Middle School program
Experience and Professional Competencies:
- Experience in teaching is required, with 3 or more years preferred
- Experience in an independent school leadership or teaching environment is preferred
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- A graduate degree in education or related field is preferred

- Have proficient skills in the use of technology, including, but not limited to Mac or Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and relevant cloud-based tools
- Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills
- An ability to create and execute on processes and systems
- A willingness to participate in professional growth/development opportunities
Additional Requirements:
- Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
- Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:
- Salary Range: $$105,000 - $115,000
