The Miami Valley School (MVS). Our mission is to challenge young people of promise to become self-sustaining learners and compassionate global citizens. The Role. MVS is seeking an innovative and culturally inclusive Director of Athletics. As lifelong learners, MVS seeks to equip our teachers, students, and staff to successfully navigate and actively contribute to the greater good of our pluralistic world. The Director of Athletics supports the athletic program by providing a high quality, competitive program that enriches the lives and enhances the educational growth of students in grades 4-12, develops seasonal sport programs in grades K-2, promotes the image of the school; and supports the school’s mission. We believe that the diversity of our community enriches all lives.

Expectations
The Director of Athletics will:
- Model collaboration, discipline, and professionalism consistent with the school’s mission and values.
- Collaborate and communicate proactively, clearly, and openly with The Head of School as an active member of the Leadership team as well as with faculty, coaches, parents, students, and the greater Dayton athletic community.
- Manage the program’s budget ensuring careful allocation of funds while staying within the annual budget.
- Embrace the School’s Statement on Diversity (see website) and engage in training in multicultural practice.
- Ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent coaches who are properly trained and evaluated.
- Ensure the school is in full compliance with the regulations and standards of the OHSAA and other leagues for which the school is a member.
- Ensure all safety and health protocols are followed as per School and Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate and organize monthly meetings, events, and schedules in congruence with the Metro Buckeye Conference (MBC) schools.
- Provide the scheduling of all athletic contests, arrange for athletic transportation, and hire all game officials.
- Represent the school at appropriate local, state, and national athletic associations.
- Coordinate athletics role in Homecoming; coordinate and lead the athletic awards program and Athletics Hall of Fame.
Other duties
- Support Athletics on weekends during each sports season during the calendar year.
- Lead Homecoming events.
- Develop and grow summer athletic programs in sport-specific programs that the school and the department will benefit from.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree with experience in college-level or middle and/or high school athletics or Certified Athletic Administrator or working toward this certification
- Competency in understanding physiological developments of the human body
- Experience in marketing and recruitment
- Organized, outgoing, service-oriented, strong communication skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent computer competency
