Park Maintenance Worker – Seasonal

Rate: $12.25/hour – starting rate based on prior experience and education

Location: Various park locations including Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park in Fairport Harbor, Painesville Township Park in Painesville Township, Penitentiary Glen in Kirtland, and Jordan Creek Park in Concord Township. 

Position Description:  

Under direction of supervisor, the Park Maintenance Worker completes building and/ grounds maintenance at their assigned location(s). 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Performs general park clean up. 
• Performs park maintenance including mowing park grounds, painting, picking up litter, and landscaping. 
• Assists with minor repairs on buildings and/or machines and performs custodial tasks. 
• Assists with special event set-up.
• Performs Ball Field maintenance (specific to Painesville Township Park). 
  • Mows outfield, drags and lines infields, lays out ball diamonds, and assists with irrigation work. 
• Performs Nature Play outdoor site maintenance (specific to Penitentiary Glen).
  • Performs safety inspections of play area and resets area for future visitors throughout shift. 
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Prior experience in maintenance preferred. 

Position Requirements: 

• Basic knowledge of painting.
• Basic knowledge of softball/baseball rules if located at Painesville Township Park.
• Skilled in performing moderate construction.
• Skilled in customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to operate vehicles/truck and trailer properly.
• Ability to safely operate RTV’s, small power tools, and other power equipment and hand tools as required.
• Ability to work independently and be able to travel to multiple locations to clean, move equipment and/or perform other landscaping needs.
• Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Variable work schedule, up to 40 hours per week.
• May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Pre-employment background check required.
