Lifeguard – Seasonal

 

Rate: $18.00/hour – starting rate based on prior experience and education

 

Location: Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park, Fairport Harbor, OH 44077

 

Position Description:  

Under direction of the Outdoor Education Manager, the Lifeguard supervises the beach area at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists public and administer appropriate lifeguarding techniques and first aid when necessary.  
  • Assists with kayak rentals, keeping beach area, buildings, and rescue equipment clean and well maintained.  
  • Assists with special events and/or programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Lifeguarding Certificate required.
  • CPR for Professional Rescuer required.
  • First Aid Certificate required.
  • Experience with boating preferred. 

 

Position Requirements: 

  • Hiring dependent upon passing lifeguarding skills test.
    • Lake Metroparks is offering a lifeguard certification class for $100 on April 23/24 and May 1/2. Work the full season and be reimbursed the registration fee! For details and to register visit: 2025 Lifeguard Training
  • Basic knowledge of Lake County.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with families and children of all ages.
  • Ability to interact with others with tact and courtesy and maintain integrity and appropriate behavior in dealing with conflicts and challenges with the public, co-workers, and managers.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Variable work schedule, up to 40 hours per week.
  • May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
