TWC Law Clerk - Intern - Office of Public Commissioner/Chairman
The Office of the Commissioner Representing the Public at the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a law school student for a 10-to-12-week paid summer internship. The internship will include introduction to staff and interns in other TWC Divisions with legal roles, providing an opportunity to gain insight into various positions attorneys hold at TWC. The program will also include opportunities to network with TWC interns, executives, and other government officials throughout the summer.

What You'll Do:
Responsibilities will include:
· Weekly case review and research for unemployment insurance, labor law, wage claim, and employment and housing discrimination cases.
· Research and advise policy staff and Chairman on agency policy actions in over 20 workforce-related programs, including Adult Education and Literacy, Apprenticeship, Child Care, Vocational Rehabilitation, and more. · Collaborative work with Chairman's staff preparing materials for external and internal stakeholder meetings and preparations, including labor-market data analysis.
· Assist in preparation of Communications and social media, including weekly release of content for LinkedIn.
· Other duties aligned with the interests of the intern selected.
The Office of the Commissioner Representing the Public is interviewing for a full-time, in-person intern, from approximately June 2, 2025, through mid-August 2025. The work location is in the agency's headquarters building at 101 E. 15th Street in Austin. That's on the north lawn of the State Capitol, about four blocks south of the University of Texas.
What You'll Earn:
TWC Internships are full -time, temporary positions. The internship pays $2,600 per month at a full-time status and comes with some benefits.
What You'll Learn:
Interns can expect to walk away with a broad view of the work performed by attorneys in a Commission Office, UI Appeals, OGC, and other areas within agency. They will have the opportunity to observe and work on administrative, government, and employment law issues.
What You Need to Get Hired:
· Graduation from an accredited college.
· Proof of enrollment in an ABA accredited law university.
· Skill in operating computers and applicable software.
· Good organizational skills, with strong attention to details
· Ability to work well and collaborate with others in a team environment.
