Job Title: Secondary English Teacher
Reports to: Secondary Principal
Job Summary: The classroom teacher is responsible for carrying out the mission of Heartland Christian School by providing a classroom environment that fosters spiritual and academic growth through teaching students. As educational and spiritual leaders, they guide students toward a deeper understanding of knowledge and faith, fostering an environment where both aspects flourish harmoniously. Every relationship they build is dedicated to reflecting the glory of God through their educational endeavors at Heartland Christian School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities as a Teacher include the following:
- Plan broadly through semester and quarterly curriculum mapping and weekly through daily lesson plans; plan lessons designed to meet measurable objectives from the HCS Course of Study; submit lesson plans via FACTS weekly.
- Plan and execute a program of study that recognizes and accommodates the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities and challenges each student to do his or her best work.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to design engaging lessons and classroom activities, following the prescribed scope and sequence outlined in Curriculum Trak.
- Integrate Biblical principles and Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Employ various instructional strategies and materials to provide engaging instruction intended to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
Qualifications:
- Professes and lives out a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Displays a Christian testimony that is evidence of the Gospel's transforming power.
- Possess a bachelor's degree, preferably in education or a specific subject area, and an Ohio state-issued teaching certificate or license.
- Shall consistently attend a Christ-centered, Bible-preaching local church
- Agrees with and adheres to the Employee Handbook and Tenets of Faith
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building and maintaining positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to the school's mission, vision, and values in all aspects of the school's operation.
- Must pass the school-mandated criminal background check process.
- Proficiency in computer technology resources, including Google Classroom, is required. Knowledge of FACTS software and SMART Board interactive displays is a plus.
