Student Services Coordinator
Title: Student Services Coordinator
Purpose of Position: To effectively coordinate services which support the success of all students.
Employment Status: Full-time Reporting
Reports to: Principal
Location: Assigned campus
Essential Functions:
Monitor progress for all students
- Use data from environmental and instructional quality assessments to identify areas of strength and opportunity.
- Work with teachers and instructional staff in establishing and supporting positive
classroom climates. - Help teachers and instructional staff develop research-based, instructional practices that support the development of children’s language, early literacy, and mathematical background knowledge and concept development.
Support teachers in developing and implementing secondary interventions
- Use data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional supports.
- Help teachers identify and develop classroom-based, developmentally appropriate
interventions for individual children and groups of children to enhance their acquisition of social/emotional and cognitive skills. - Support teachers in documenting children’s progress.
- Facilitate the Student Assistance Team (SAT) process with the principal, support staff, parents, and instructional staff.
- Use instructional and behavioral support tools (Tier 2 Planning form, SST forms,
functional behavior assessment and behavior management plans) effectively.
Coordinate individualized and tertiary support
- Work with the Director of Special Populations, Building Administrator, School
Psychologist, classroom teacher and other personnel knowledgeable about the student to facilitate eligibility for special education.
Provide District and building level support
- Support the Principal on the general operations of the school.
- Work with the Director of Special Populations to create and implement systems for
program administration, including referral methods, data collection and storage. - Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier.
- Provide training and technical assistance as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and community.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to teachers’ individual differences and cultural backgrounds.
- Allocate time and resources effectively.
- Respect confidentiality.
Create an Environment of Respect and Rapport
- Encourage and model respectful talk, active listening and turn taking.
- Acknowledge students’ backgrounds and lives outside of the classroom.
- Exhibit body language indicative of warmth and caring to students.

Establish a Culture for Learning
- Demonstrate a belief in the value of what is being learned and the Montessori and French instructional pedagogies.
- Encourage high expectations, supported through both verbal and nonverbal behaviors, for both learning and participation.
- Encourage and recognize effort and persistence on the parts of students.
- Create a culture that promotes high expectations for expression and work products.
- Establish smooth functioning classroom routines with little or no loss of instructional time.
- Create classroom routines where students play an important role in carrying out the
routines.
Display Professionalism and Commitment to the Audubon Community
- Reflect and refine instruction based on feedback from others and self-reflection.
- Create systems and routines that track student metrics to improve both academic and socio-emotional outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress.
- Frequently and in a way that is culturally appropriate, communicate with families
regarding the program and student progress. - Cultivate positive two-way communication between school and families.
- Create frequent opportunities for families to engage in the learning process.
- Regularly work with colleagues to share and plan for student success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities that emphasize improving
practice. - Regularly participate in or initiate school activities which further the mission of the
school. - Regularly participate in or initiate activities which emphasize community service.
- Supports students even in the face of difficult situations or conflicting policies.
- Fulfills organizational mandates regarding policies and procedures.
Education, Training and Experience:
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Certification or ability to gain certification as a Teacher in instructional area.
- Experience creating and successfully managing a Special Education or similar
classroom environment. - Experience in and/or understanding of the public school system including
charter schools is desirable.
PREFERRED
- Master’s degree in education or related field
- Montessori or National Board Certification
- Certification in multiple instructional areas
