Elementary Co-Op Educator

Are you looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference? Co-Op Summer Enrichment is an award winning summer camp for low income children that delivers STEM learning and camp fun.

 

What you'll be doing

You’re joining a summer camp team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As a Project Based Educator you’ll be responsible for creating project based youth education experiences continuing the high quality STEM education that earned us the Excellence in Summer Learning Award from the National Summer Learning Institute.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement project-based program blocks that promote learning through interdisciplinary thematic inquiry supporting chosen STEM themes identified by the leadership team for this camp season
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to identify project themes 
  • Adapt materials and projects to meet the needs of different age groups for rising grades 1 through 5
  • Educators may lead a major program block (approximately 1.5 hours) for multiple groups per day rotating on a weekly basis
  • Educators may lead a math or reading program block (approximately 45 minutes to one hour) for multiple groups per day
  • Provide curriculum specific supply lists based upon recommended budgets to the Leadership Team at least one month prior to the start of the Co-Op Program
  • Manage classroom supply inventory, setting up necessary materials each day, and ensuring adequate supplies are maintained throughout the camp season
  • Provide feedback to the Professional Development Manager to indicate specific professional development preferences 
  • Mentor Counselors and LITs assisting in your program blocks giving direct guidance, explanations and clear instructions for maximum effectiveness 
  • Assist with additional camp wide activities and special events such as Color War and Field Trips 
  • Supervise and assist campers with the goals of:
    • Promoting collaboration among campers & staff
    • Establishing a mutual attitude of caring and creating among all campers & staff
    • Helping campers acquire new skills during their program blocks
    • Infusing all activities with fun
  • Attend all orientation week training sessions
  • Enforce the highest level of safety at all times, adhering to camp policies and procedures
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Camp Director for professional development and lesson planning

Requirements

  • Professional Educator
    • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience or working professionally in a school setting
    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; high preference given to those with experience in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and/or Teaching English to Students of Other Languages
  • Rising Educator
    • Minimum 1 - 2 years of teaching experience or working professionally in a school setting
    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; high preference given to those with experience in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and/or Teaching English to Students of Other Languages
  • Young Educator
    • Currently attending college/university or have recently graduated; studying education or a related field; high preference given to those with experience in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and/or Teaching English to Students of Other LanguagesLanguages
    • Possesses some student teaching experience

 

Besides that you might:

  • Have a desire to make a difference in the lives of kids
  • Are Bilingual (Spanish/English)

All employees must:

  • Posses a valid social security card and NYS state identification
  • Pass a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process)
  • Provide two professional references if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee and are a new Co-Op employee
  • Have availability to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations and trainings

 

REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES: 

  • Camp-season: 
    • June 30, 2025 to August 8, 2025 (No camp July 4th) 
    • 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Regular camp days
    • 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Regular camp days with weekly staff meeting

*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st

SALARY

Professional Educator - Total Summer Salary - $7,700 

Rising Educator - Total Summer Salary - $4,400 

Young Educator - Total Summer Salary - $3190
