Ecological Services Intern

Ecological Services Intern Positions Available

The Ecological Team has several paid internships available for 2025. This team oversees a broad range of environmental services and internships will provide an opportunity to become acquainted with the real-world roles and responsibilities of environmental consultants and scientists. Intern positions would primarily involve field-related data collection for wetland and wildlife related projects as well as the opportunity for office-based work.

Responsibilities

Interns will be scheduled to work alongside other Ecological Scientists in teams of two or more, for fieldwork tasks throughout New England. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • GPS data collection using handheld devices and various platforms. 
  • Wetland Boundary Delineation Support
  • Wildlife Habitat Evaluations, Wildlife Surveys, and Tree Inventories
  • Bat Monitoring and Habitat Assessments
  • Invasive Species Surveys and Treatment
  • Office-based support may include the following: Field data entry, management and analyses, drafting environmental permit documents, preparing photo documentation logs.

Qualifications and Skills

Successful candidates must: 

  • Be passionate about seeking, sharing, and applying new knowledge and skills to improve individual, team, and company performance. 
  • Have an interest in ecological science, wetland science, wildlife conservation, hydrology, and/or botany.
  • Maintain a high standard for being ethical, respectful, and practicing fair business respect with your BSC Team, our clients, and the communities we serve. 
  • Possess strong ability to interact with various peers, clients, and other service-related staff on multiple levels from individual to peer-to-peer to those in a supervisory capacity.

Job Requirements Include

  • Working outside in the field in all elements, terrain and conditions 
  • Communication and organizational skills 
  • Problem solving skills 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team 
  • Flexibility to travel to/from project sites principally within Massachusetts, but also throughout New England. 
  • Demonstrated experience using a GPS unit, and GIS knowledge is a plus.  
  • A driver’s license and a means of reliable transportation are required. 

This position requires a field presence, therefore, daily travel to/from a BSC Office Location is not required. Please note that daily travel to remote sites will be necessary. We understand that each BSC Team Member is unique as are personal definitions of work-life balance. The majority of BSC’s workforce embraces a hybrid model, which allows people to work remotely, on job sites, and other field-based locations, as well as at any of our office locations when necessary.
