Northmarq is seeking a paralegal to join the Legal & Compliance team at our Minneapolis (Bloomington, MN) headquarters. The in-house paralegal will play a critical role in supporting the team’s lawyers and compliance professionals. The role is essential for ensuring that all legal documentation is meticulously handled, compliance standards are met, and legal risks are effectively managed.

*This position is an in-office position, with an immediate start date.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Effective management of a large and diversified workload.
  • Draft and review correspondence and contracts (including employment and separation agreements).
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of subjects.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support and perform clerical tasks as assigned. 
  • Coordinate with the in-house counsel in issuing and monitoring legal holds.
  • Manage subpoena requests and compile documents in response to the same.
  • Handle compliance/regulatory special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Monitor legal status of corporate entities and coordinate filings with government agencies as necessary.
  • Assist company professionals with maintaining required licenses and accreditations. 
  • Additional responsibilities may be added to align with department strategies and objectives.  

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field (preferred).
  • Paralegal certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience within a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably within the finance or real estate industries.
  • Experience in subject matter areas of support, including litigation, business law, and employment law.
  • Experience in maintaining calendars and coordinating meetings.
  • General familiarity with loan documents, including mortgages, loan agreements, promissory notes, servicing agreements, and the ancillary documents related to such transactions.
  • Highly collaborative in nature.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations pertaining to privacy, lending, loan servicing, etc. a strong plus.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, a high level of independent judgment, and a profound understanding of the organization and its business needs.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and projects while problem-solving and prioritizing workflow.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support a cooperative approach and minimize conflict.
  • Flexible and able to respond to changing priorities and meet critical deadlines.

Minnesota Residents: Northmarq carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The salary range for the Paralega position is $55,952.00 to $75,608.00 per year. This range is a good faith estimate and the actual compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
