Administrative Support Internship

Summary:

Creation of monthly reports for carriers as well as internal reports for metric analysis, Catastrophic Claims reports, and Quality Control.  Quality control reviews of files.  Maintaining manuals. Support of surplus lines filing with sister company. Various support duties for Underwriters.

 

Daily payment processing in ConceptOne system for specialty lines business, follow up on overdue payments. Administrative support for Underwriters through input of applications, preparing quotations, and confirmation of binding, policy issuance, endorsements, assistance in remarketing renewals, as well as any other duties assigned in the course of business.

 

This is a learning position and requires a willingness to learn through self-study in addition to extensive training and work in conjunction with Underwriters.

 

Essential Duties and Functions: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Accounting functionality in ConceptOne system including AR/AP. Monitor premium collection for timely receipt and payment to carriers. Policy cancellations.
  • Policy Issuance/Maintenance – produce policy and/or endorsements via ConceptOne; verification of all policy/endorsement information prior to issuance. Documents sent for surplus lines filings.
  • Monthly reports from PowerSystems and ConceptOne; additional reports as needed for metric analysis. Expertise in Excel including formatting, formulas, macros and data manipulation.
  • Problem Analysis – Ability to obtain and analyze information, determine possible solutions and make recommendations.
  • Underwriting – in training for risk analysis to determine the optimum terms/ conditions/provisions of policies for presentation.
  • Renewals – assist Underwriters with review of expiring policies, re-analysis of risk in respect of current market conditions.
  • Pursues a course of personal, professional development.

Required

  • High School Diploma
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • 1 year administrative or accounting experience

 

Preferred:

  • Work experience in insurance field

 

Physical Requirements Necessary on a Regular Basis:

  • Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone 7-8 hours per day.
  • Speech and hearing sufficient for daily communication in-person and via telephone.
  • Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor.
  • Ability to sit at a desk 7-8 hours per day.
