The W. P. Carey School of Business, Online Academic Services is looking for an Instructional Designer Associate to assist faculty in the design and development of online courses and course materials using multiple learning management systems (and other instructional technologies) and applying best practices in teaching and learning.
 

Days and Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM and occasional weekend on-call work. This position does require an in-person schedule and full remote option is not available.
 

Salary Range: $51,500 - $56,000; to commensurate with education and experience. 
 

Essential Duties:

Assists Online Academic Services (OAS) instructional designers, WPC faculty and staff in the design, development and maintenance of engaging, interactive and instructionally sound online course materials.

Provides troubleshooting and other technology support for online teaching and learning products used by faculty, students, and staff.

In conjunction with the OAS team, performs Quality Assurance reviews for online courses.

Through team communication, presentations, training sessions, conferences and publications, remains current on emerging technologies that have potential value for teaching and learning.

Assists with the researching and production of clear documentation and other instructional materials (websites, multimedia and online tutorials) to support faculty learning.

Uses applications such as desktop content authoring tools, document creation applications and presentation tools to develop custom products to meet user needs.

Collaborates with Instructional Designers, Academic Technologists, Project Managers, and others to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of course design and development models and processes.

Desired Qualifications:

Designing, developing, implementing, revising, and reviewing online courses and course materials in a higher education environment.

Skill in using a variety of industry-leading technologies and products for development of course content, presentations, web pages, web applications and tutorials.

Online course evaluation and Quality Matters best practices and processes.

Troubleshooting and supporting faculty and staff use of technology.

Working in a higher education environment, interacting and supporting faculty and

administration.

Online instructional design for adult learning; principles, practices, and techniques; Security/permission methods and standards for course access.

Using learning management systems.

Writing, proofreading and editing instructional materials.

Skill in managing multiple projects.

Working Environment:
 

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%) Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to effectively communicate to perform essential functions. Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

Flexible work options

Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.

Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
