Grant Proposal Writer

$71,312
+ 1,500 w/ Masters
$72,812

Job Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, preparing, and writing grant proposals to secure funding for specific projects. This role involves collaboration with various public and private organizations, as well as government departments on a local and regional basis. Once grants have been secured, the individual will assist in overseeing reporting, evaluation, and finalization of grants awards. 

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct ongoing research to identify available grant funds and sources for public education initiatives. 

Prepare written grant proposals. 

Ensure that grant proposals follow the guidelines of the grantor and answer all required information. 

Maintain liaison with local and regional public and private organizations and government units for potential collaboration on grants. 

Prepare and develop reports as needed, for example, budget and filing reports 

Recommend grant writing policies and procedures. 

Collect and analyze data related to grant effectiveness and needs.  

 

Job Qualifications
 

Desired Qualifications:

Good knowledge of educational structure, organization, and function. 

Good knowledge of techniques and procedures involved in grant writing for various governmental and private grant-in-aid programs. 

Good knowledge of the education field and specific areas where grants are needed 

Ability to maintain accurate records. 

Ability to write effective grant proposals that meet all basic requirements of the grantor. 

Mental alertness, neatness, tact, courtesy, dependability, initiative, and good judgment. 

Ability to utilize computer systems in the completion of activities. 

Effective written communication skills. 

Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.  

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:

Must meet minimum qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a registered Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience in grant writing and research; or

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a registered Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of experience in grant writing and research; or

C) An equivalent of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must take the upcoming Erie County Civil Service exam for the title of GRANT PROPOSAL WRITER once announced.
