Digital Communications Coordinator

About the Role

In this pivotal position, you’ll own MAPSA’s digital presence, shaping how we communicate across platforms and turning complex education policy into relatable, actionable stories. From engaging social campaigns to cutting-edge video content, you’ll set the tone for Michigan’s public charter school movement.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Elevate the MAPSA brand: Drive our storytelling through blogs, social media, and email campaigns that inspire advocacy, connection, and action.
  • Ignite advocacy: Design and execute grassroots campaigns that motivate Michigan parents and educators to speak out and influence policy.
  • Create scroll-stopping content: Develop multimedia assets like videos, reels, and graphics that energize our followers and bring our mission to life.
  • Manage digital platforms: Lead the charge on social media, website updates, and email marketing while staying ahead of digital trends.
  • Measure success: Track and analyze performance data to refine strategies and ensure our efforts hit the mark.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Expertise in managing social media platforms, email marketing tools (like Constant Contact), and content creation tools (like Canva).
  • A knack for storytelling—through written blogs, snappy reels, or attention-grabbing emails.
  • Familiarity with Michigan’s political and educational landscape is a major plus.
  • Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of AP Style (or a willingness to learn).
  • Ability to travel across the state (yes, even the UP!) to capture stories and digital assets.

How to Apply:

To land this role, a degree in communications or a related field is preferred, along with 5-7+ years of experience in digital communications, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy organization. Creativity, outstanding writing skills, and a commitment to the mission are all required for this role.
