Upper Academy Principal (6th–12th Grade Building)
Genoa Christian Academy is a growing PreK-12 chartered, nonpublic school in Westerville, Ohio. GCA is a ministry of Genoa Baptist Church. Applications are being accepted for a full-time Upper Academy Principal to lead our 6th–12th grade program through a time of record growth and expansion. The right candidate will focus on pointing students and staff to Christ on a daily basis through positive leadership and proven experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (master’s in educational leadership, administration, or a related field preferred).
- Valid state-issued certification as a school administrator or principal.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably in middle or high school settings.
- Prior leadership experience, such as assistant principal or department head, is strongly preferred.
Candidates will also have the following characteristics:
● A strong, clear Christian testimony and a mature and Godly spirit.
● A daily example of the highest Christian virtue and leadership in and out of school.
● Proven ability to communicate and interact well with students, parents, staff and pastoral board.
● Commitment to faithful attendance and membership at Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville, Ohio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Oversees the entire Upper Academy program including academics, student life, extracurricular activities, and employee development.
● Seeks to model in speech, actions, and attitudes a consistent walk with Jesus Christ, and endeavors to help each student grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
● Strives at all times to understand, appreciate, love and serve pupils, families and staff to the best of his/her ability, and provides for their fullest spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional development.
● Accepts without verbal or mental reservations the school’s mission statement and goals, and is committed to upholding them.
● Ensures that policies are followed and that classes are taught as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence and integrated with Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.
● Has a passion to facilitate spiritual growth in students and staff.
● Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, administration, and staff.
● Approves the schedule and master calendar.
● Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, and knows the procedures for dealing with emergencies and other issues.
● Monitors intervention/special education services.
● Acknowledges that he/she is fully aware of his/her obligations under state law regarding child abuse reporting requirements.
● Turns in required reports and correspondence promptly and accurately.
● Plans staff devotions, in-service days, staff retreats, and committee, faculty and other required meetings.
● Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner while maintaining a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and compliance with school policy.
● Is responsive and available to parents, and shares ideas about how to improve student success.
● Other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
