Inspiredu Internship Program

Inspiredu Internship Program 

Objective: 

To provide hands-on experience and professional growth opportunities for interns passionate about nonprofit work, aligned with Inspiredu's mission and core values. 

 

Program Structure: 

Duration: Spring (up to 20 hours), Summer (full time), Fall (up to 20 hours) 

Weekly Commitment: 15-20 hours per week 

Target audience: Rising Juniors or Rising Seniors for the summer intern program; Junior or Seniors for the Fall/Spring internships 

Internship Types: Paid  

Location: Hybrid (in-office in Atlanta and at our events) 

Supervision: Each department will assign a mentor or supervisor to guide interns. 

Timesheet will be managed by reporting supervisor or department head. 

Major: IT related fields, Marketing, Education, Communications,  Non Profit

Departmental Rotations and Responsibilities: 

1. Marketing & Communications 

Responsibilities

Assist in social media content creation, scheduling, and engagement. 

Support the creation of newsletters, press releases, and website content. 

Conduct market research and assist in branding campaigns. 

Project: Work on a campaign promoting a current Inspiredu program or event. 

2. Fundraising & Development 

Responsibilities

Aid in donor communication, including acknowledgment letters and updates. 

Assist in planning fundraising events or initiatives. 

Research potential grant opportunities and assist in proposal writing. 

3. Program Management 

Responsibilities

Help coordinate logistics for Inspiredu programs such as preparing for workshops and supporting the implementation of workshops, both at the VTC and partner locations  

Communicate with program participants to gather feedback. 

Project: Support the launch of a new program initiative or improve an existing one. 

4. Operations & Technology 

Responsibilities

Will work in technical environment with technicians working on tier 1 troubleshooting of laptops, desktops, and tablets. 

Work on inventory management of technology 

Responsible for updating information into excel sheets. 

Responsible for supporting workshops. 

 

Events & Street Team Involvement: 

Responsibilities

Actively participate in community outreach events and serve as event lead. 

Represent Inspiredu at local events, helping to engage the community and raise awareness. 

Serve as street team lead and coordinator of activities with point of contact. 

Project: Organize and lead a small street team event or contribute to event strategy planning. 

 

Professional Development Opportunities: 

Workshops: Monthly workshops on topics such as workplace professionalism, career planning, nonprofit management, community engagement, and digital marketing offered. 

Mentorship: Monthly check-ins with department mentors to discuss progress and to address any career related questions. 

Networking: Opportunities to connect with industry professionals, community leaders, and other nonprofit organizations. 

Evaluation and Reflection: 

Weekly Feedback: Supervisors provide weekly feedback to help interns track growth and address challenges. 

Final Presentation: Each intern presents their projects and learning experiences to Inspiredu staff and partners at the end of the internship. 

 

Inspiredu Internship Program Requirements & Rules 

 

Enrolled in an accredited university or college 

Rising Junior & Senior (gpa 2.5 or higher) 

Successfully completes the recruiting and onboarding processes (e.g. background check) 

Reliable transportation 

1. Professional Conduct 

Respect and Courtesy: Treat everyone—staff, volunteers, other interns, and community members—with respect, kindness, and empathy. 

Commitment to Mission: Demonstrate an understanding of Inspiredu’s mission and values. Show a commitment to making a positive impact on the community through your work. 

Accountability: Own your work, be transparent about challenges, and ask for help when needed. Uphold high standards in every task or project you undertake. 

2. Attendance and Punctuality 

Weekly Schedule: Follow the agreed-upon schedule and inform supervisors promptly of any changes or conflicts. 

Timely Arrival: Be punctual for all meetings, events, and shifts. Notify your supervisor in advance if you anticipate being late. 

Absences: Inform your supervisor as early as possible if you are unable to attend a shift due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. 

3. Dress Code 

Professional Attire: Dress appropriately for the work environment. Business casual is recommended for office days; team T-shirts and comfortable attire are suitable for events or street team activities. 

Event-Specific Requirements: Follow specific dress codes for events, which may require branded clothing or Inspiredu apparel provided by the organization. 

4. Confidentiality 

Data Protection: Handle sensitive information, such as participant data or donor information, with discretion and care. 

Non-Disclosure: Do not share any internal documents, program plans, or other Inspiredu information with external parties without permission. 

Professional Boundaries: Maintain professional boundaries with all stakeholders, respecting privacy and confidentiality agreements. 

5. Communication 

Email and Messaging Etiquette: Use professional language in all communications. Respond to emails and messages from team members within 24 hours whenever possible. 

Constructive Feedback: Be open to receiving and giving constructive feedback. Address issues directly and professionally. 

Escalating Issues: If any concerns arise, report them promptly to your supervisor or the designated intern coordinator. 

6. Project Ownership and Deadlines 

Project Deadlines: Adhere to project deadlines as agreed upon with your supervisor. If delays occur, communicate with your supervisor immediately to plan accordingly. 

Initiative: Take the initiative to propose ideas, address challenges, and seek learning opportunities. 

Quality Assurance: Complete all tasks with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in your work. 

7. Health and Safety 

Follow Safety Guidelines: Adhere to all health and safety protocols, especially during in-person events and street team activities. 

Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and contacts. 

COVID-19 Precautions: Follow current health guidelines, including social distancing, mask-wearing, or other precautions as required. 

8. Event Participation 

Active Involvement: Interns are encouraged to participate in Inspiredu’s events to gain experience in community outreach and engagement. 

Event Preparation: Arrive early to events for setup and stay afterward for cleanup and debrief. 

Representation: Represent Inspiredu positively at all events, maintaining professionalism and approachability. 

9. Social Media and Branding 

Brand Integrity: Adhere to Inspiredu’s branding guidelines when posting or sharing content about the organization. 

Permission for Posting: Seek permission from supervisors before posting photos, videos, or any content related to Inspiredu’s activities on personal social media. 

No Media Leaks: Do not disclose any unapproved content or news on social media before the organization’s official channels do so. 

10. Final Evaluation and Reflection 

Progress Reviews: Attend periodic check-ins to review progress, set goals, and receive feedback. 

Final Presentation: Be prepared to share key insights and achievements in a final presentation to Inspiredu staff at the program’s conclusion. 

Exit Survey: Complete an exit survey to provide feedback on your internship experience to help improve the program for future interns.
