Director Kids Next Door Ministry

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director Kids Next Door Ministry provides oversight of the hiring process, leadership, training, and direction for all paid staff within the Kids Next Door Ministry Team (infants-6th grade). The Director partners with the Kids Next Door Ministry Team, parents, children, and volunteers to Move People Closer to God. The Director is responsible to establish goals, design and execute strategies, and build teams that lead to the fulfillment of our vision for the children’s ministry.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Kids Next Door Team Leadership - Oversees and leads the Kids Next Door Ministry team with collaborative leadership and goal-setting efforts from team members. Collaborates with Team on administration and planning to set and reach annual ministry goals. Supports the work, growth, and professional development of the team as a whole and of individual team members.
  2. Facilitating Ministry - Plans, facilitates, and executes ministry development, administration, and events. Collaborates with Kids Next Door Ministry team to plan and execute ministry events.
  3. Discipling & Communicating with others – Leads, equips, and grows teams of staff and volunteers, creating regular patterns of caring for the team on an individual and whole-team basis. Support events as needed. Maintains personal discipling relationships with children and families. Ministers to and communicates with staff and parents of children. Creates a discipling environment for staff, parents, children, and volunteer leaders.
  4. Outreach Efforts - outside our church that reach new children and families. Primarily focused on building relationships with children, parents, staff, and community leaders.
  5. Attend weekly staff meetings. Attend at least one weekly Worship service. Participate in church-wide events and activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the church’s statement of faith and Staff Covenant.
  • A committed follower of Christ, able to share a personal testimony of the transforming power of Jesus Christ in their life.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in full-time youth ministry or related roles.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing staff.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and deploying volunteers.
  • Effective written and oral, small and large group communication skills. 
  • Experience with use of active learning strategies and curriculum development utilizing multiple learning styles.
  • Experience leading retreats and camps.
  • Experience managing and leading ministry with physical, emotional and spiritual safety of students and volunteers.
  • Experience managing complex ministry details including scheduling, communication, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and church management software (CCB).
  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders(1 Tim. 3:1-13;2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5- 9).
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment, helping to create an atmosphere of open and honest communication to build healthy working relationships in which mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to Christian love for one another are paramount.
  • Financial management and budget oversight experience.
  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS &WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position works in a church environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the facility is quiet.

SCHEDULE AND WORKING HOURS

This position typically works 40 to 50 hours a week, Sunday-Thursday. The Director shares Saturday and Sunday responsibilities with team members. The Kids Ministry serves children and families during services Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 9:20 am and 11 am.  The church office is closed on Friday.
