Position Title: Digital Media Specialist
Location: Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center (LOMC), Oregon, IL
Employment Dates: June 1 – August 8, 2025
About LOMC:
- Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center is a 600-acre retreat and camping facility dedicated to being the Church in outdoor settings, nurturing Christian faith and providing experiences connecting the Word of God with the World of God.
Position Overview:
- The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for capturing the spirit and excitement of LOMC’s summer camp through photography, videography, and social media content. This individual will play a key role in documenting camp life for parents, promoting the camp’s mission, and preserving memories for campers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Photography and Videography:
- Take daily photos of campers and activities.
- Upload photos to a shared Google Photos folder for camper families.
- Capture staff headshots, group photos, and camp highlights for promotional materials.
- Social Media Management:
- Post daily updates, photos, and stories to LOMC’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Assist in creating engaging, mission-aligned content to showcase camp life.
- Graphic Design:
- Create visually appealing posts and promotional graphics as needed.
- Design digital content consistent with LOMC’s branding and values.
- Equipment Management:
- Use personal or camp-provided camera equipment to complete daily tasks.
- Counselor Responsibilities (if applicable):
- If agreed upon during the application and interview process, the Digital Media Specialist may also take on camp counselor duties, including supervising campers, leading activities, and supporting the overall camp community.
Qualifications:
- Experience in photography, videography, or digital media (professional or hobbyist).
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and basic graphic design tools.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for storytelling through visual media.
- Owns personal camera equipment (preferred but not required).
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2025.
- Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Attendance at mandatory staff training from June 1 – June 13, 2025.
- Commitment to the full camp season, from June 1 – August 8, 2025.
- Adherence to LOMC’s policies, including the prohibition of alcohol and drug use on camp property or while representing the camp.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Weekly stipend of $300 (plus $10 per week for each year returning as staff).
- Lodging on camp premises for the duration of employment.
- Meals provided during camp weeks (Sunday dinner through Friday lunch).
- Opportunities to develop professional skills in media, communication, and teamwork.
