Undergraduate Physiology Research In Medicine and Education (UPRIME)


 

UPRIME is a 10-week summer program hosted by the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology at the University of Minnesota and sponsored by an American Heart Association award.  Each awardee is given the opportunity to conduct physiology research in their area of interest with a research faculty member in the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology. Each awardee is also given a stipend of up to $6000.00.

Undergraduate Physiology Research In Medicine and Education (UPRIME)

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology (IBP) at the University of Minnesota is seeking undergraduate students to participate in a biomedical laboratory-based research and education program.  This program is directed at students who are or will be juniors (third year students) or seniors (fourth year students) at their home institutions. We are especially interested in students who are underrepresented in biomedical research and/or medicine.  Eligible students will be given the opportunity to participate in cutting edge research and have opportunities for academic mentoring.  Each student will earn a stipend of $6000 for their 10-week research experience.  Travel funds to a scientific conference are available.

  • Area of Research Interest
  • Previous Research Experience
  • Year in School and Academic Major
    • Students in IBP’s Human Physiology major are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Grade Point Average (GPA), total as well as GPA for completed Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math (BCPM) classes. Include Physiology if you have already taken it.
  • Underrepresented in Biomedicine
  • Family Income Level
  • Veteran status
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Commitment to spend 10 weeks in Minneapolis, Minnesota from June 5 through August 15, 2025.
