Associate Researcher - O'Loughlin lab
Dr. Thomas O’Loughlin’s laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai seeks a motivated and diligent Lab Technician (Associate Researcher) interested in cellular metabolism research. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and apply cutting-edge techniques including CRISPR-based functional genomics, iPSC culture/differentiation, and transcriptomics (RNA/Iso-seq) and contribute to established research projects exploring the molecular details of nutrient sensing, signalling, and metabolic cell death. The successful applicant will be trained to perform research independently and receive mentorship in all aspects of scientific research from project design and execution to publication.
Job description:
- Perform cell culture (continuous and iPSC lines)
- Conduct molecular and biochemical experiments (e.g. CRISPR screens, RNA/Iso/ChIP-seq, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy)
- Managing lab logistics (protocols, inventory)
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related subject
- Commitment of 1.5 – 2 years
Preferred qualifications:
- Molecular biology experience
- Computational skills (e.g. R/python)
