Montessori 7th-9th Grade Language Arts and Spanish Teacher

The Montessori School of Greater Hartford is looking to hire a dedicated, passionate, full-time teacher qualified to teach both Language & Literature, as well as Spanish as a second language, to 7th-9th grade students. The teaching position, available as of August 2025, is a unique opportunity to work alongside adolescents on a farm campus where work on the land is integrated with academic studies. The applicant must enjoy guiding experiential learning opportunities in a small, friendly, collaborative school community and have a deep appreciation for the natural world and agriculture. An ability to engage young adolescents in a variety of activities and to enjoy working alongside them both outdoors and in the classroom is essential.

The applicant, a college graduate, must be able to guide studies of literature – selecting texts, planning for discussions and seminars, and building literacy and writing skills across the disciplines and across genres: essay writing, creative writing, research writing, and so forth. The candidate should aim to inspire a love of literature and the humanities and to engage adolescents with diverse texts, differentiated teaching strategies, and meaningful activities that enhance reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.

For Spanish-language teaching, the applicant must have the level of fluency and mastery necessary to guide both beginners and advanced learners with differentiated instruction. The applicant will create an engaging, student-centered learning environment that fosters Spanish language proficiency while deepening adolescents’ appreciation of, and ability to contribute positively to, a multicultural world.
