What is the Summit Bechtel Reserve (SBR)?

A premier destination for Scouts and an array of other stakeholders, the Summit offers unique outdoor experiences for all visitors, including traditional summer camp and high-adventure treks; leadership training; family camping; and beautiful facilities for the celebration of milestone events. 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the full-time health and safety manager
  • Identify and mitigate any/all hazardous condition with participants, staff, roadways, and any other SBR assets
  • Attend all operational meetings  related to health and safety
  • Provide daily oversight and coordination between all OPS Managers
  • Perform compliance inspections/ audits for federal, state, local, and camp regulatory
  • Assist on an as-needed basis in the Summit Health Lodge
  • This is a summer seasonal position
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by full-time and seasonal SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedure outlined in the SBR Staff Handbook

  • Salaried position (minimum compensation of $2,000 per month)

Qualifications & Training

  • Twenty-one years old or older
  • Basic understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Required: Two or more years leading teams; two or more years Summit employment preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Summit Driving Permit
  • Ability to use Microsoft Teams daily for work-related communication and coordination
  • Be or become a registered member of the Scouting America

Physical Requirements

  • Multiple hours a day of either standing, walking, or hiking, and the ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
  • Can be approved to work after receiving a physical examination and fall within the SBR height and weight requirements (HERE)
