Summer Camp Leader / Programmer
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Recreation & Community Life Director
Role and Responsibilities
- Works in a Leadership role at the Parker Summer Camp Program held at T G Young Park
- Assists in the planning, implementing and supervising daily activities in Summer Camp program
- Ensures that all staff are working and interacting with children in the program
- Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for all staff and children in the program
- Fosters a working/playing environment while teaching life skills such as respect, honesty, integrity and compassion.
- Supervises, trains, and mentors all seasonal counselor staff
- Maintains open communication with the Director, Staff, Parents and Children about program activities
- Has one-on-one conferences to address a child’s specific concerns/needs and maintains confidentiality
- Communicates concerns to the Director as they come up so they are resolved as quickly as possible
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all children and staff
- Inventories supplies and snacks for camp, and communicates low inventories to the Director
- Facilitates the preparation, serving, and storing of daily snacks and lunch
- Oversees camper transports to activities (e.g. Golf Lessons, The Lake Club, Fieldtrips, The Community Center, etc.)
- Records adult/camper suggestions, complaints, incidents, and accidents in a professional manner and communicates them to the Director in a timely manner
- Assigns staff to tasks (e.g. camp preparation, daily park cleaning, activities and theme days)
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching preferred
