Summer Camp Counselor / Park & Recreation Aide
Salary: Minimum Wage – Up to $16 an hour
Job Type: Part time - Temporary
Hours: Between the hours of 9a - 4p
Employment Period: June 12 - August 1
Roles & Responsibilities
- Reports to the Summer Camp Leader/Programmer
- Works in a Leadership role at the Parker Summer Camp Program held at T. G. Young Park
- Assists the Camp Leader/Programmer in supervising and interacting with children in our Parker Summer Camp program
- Maintains a safe and nurturing environment for all children in the program
- Assists the Leader in fostering a working/playing environment while teaching life skills such as respect, honesty, integrity and compassion
- Maintains open communication with Leader, Staff, Parents and Children about program activities
- Helps Leader in addressing a child’s specific concerns/needs and maintains confidentiality
- Communicates concerns to the Leader as they arise so they are resolved as quickly as possible
- Assists the Leader in ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the program
- Keeps supplies neatly stored for camp, and makes the Leader of low inventories
- Assists the Leader with prep, serve, and stores daily snacks and lunches
- Helps Leader oversee the children on bus transportation and when away from the park on Fieldtrips, Golf Lessons, The Lake Club, the Community Center, etc.
- Listens to parent’s/grandparent’s/children’s suggestions, complaints, incidents and accidents in a professional manner then communicates these discussions to the Leader as soon as possible
- Aids in other Recreational workload such as camp preparation, daily park cleaning, activities and prep for camp theme days
Qualifications
- Babysitting experience preferred
- Education/Teaching Major preferred but not necessary
