Estate Planning Paralegal

Summary: The primary responsibilities of a paralegal are to assist the attorney throughout the client process.  In the Estate Planning department, you will accompany and assist the Associate Attorney with all matters pertaining to a case.  This includes drafting documents including Powers of Attorney, Wills, Trusts, Amendments, etc., taking notes, completing tasks set by the attorney and other team members involved in the case.  The Estate Planning Paralegal supports attorneys with various tasks including monitoring calendar daily, meeting with clients and preparing for upcoming meetings. This position works collaboratively with the attorney in completing legal work in a timely manner.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Associate Attorney.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Triages – Take calls and contact potential clients who need legal services.  Understand what they need and take all information necessary for the attorney to conduct a productive and successful Initial Consultation.
  • Draft Documents – Draft documents and revise draft documents, run final documents for execution. Drafts should be completed within 72 hours of receiving assignment.
  • CompleteTasks -  As assigned by the Associate Attorney and other team members
  • Initial Consultations, Design Appointments, and Funding Appointments for Estate Planning – Accompany the Associate Attorney in all client appointments, take notes, and complete tasks pertaining to each case. 
  • Billable Time – Keep track of and post all billable and non-billable work. 
  • Other Duties – Performs other duties as assigned including scanning documents, following up with clients, attending signings, etc.
