Prince William County Police Department Summer Internship (PAID)
If you are a college student who is interested in a law enforcement career, Prince William County Police Department is offering a 6-week internship program designed to introduce students to the field. Selected applicants will work 20 hours per week for 6 weeks and receive$18.00 an hour. The internship will run from May 26th to July 3rd, 2025. Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferably in Junior or Senior year of college
Must be in good academic standing with college Must be of good moral character
Must not have been convicted of or have pled guilty/no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in the state of Virginia
Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor of a serious nature that reflects moral turpitude or indicates a tendency to disregard the law
Must be willing to complete a background investigation to include interview, criminal history checks,and drug screening
Students must attach the following information to their application when applying for an internship:
College transcript – required (Unofficial may be submitted)
Cover letter - required (addressed to Police Personnel Manager) with the following information:
- Explain your interest in the Prince William County Police Department
- Describe how this internship will benefit you and how will it apply to your future goals
- Document the number of credit hours to be obtained through an internship
- Indicate the internship hours required by your college
- Describe your college reporting requirements (evaluations, specialprojects, etc.) Minimum of one letter of recommendation - required (preferably from college faculty)
